We are members of the Northern Underwater Photography Group
(NUPG) and each month they have a competition with a different theme. It is a great way to get you to look through your image library to find something to fit the particular theme. This month is was "Unedited" and so we dug out some images that we liked straight from the camera. No Cropping, no adjustments to contrast or colour, no spot removal.
Caroline won the competition, which is voted for on the night by those that attend the monthly meetings, with the above shot of an Oceanic Whitetip Shark from Big Brother Island in the Red Sea. These are inquisitive sharks and they came in very close, whilst Caroline was hanging out under the boat waiting for them. The shot really shows what the experience is like. It was shot with a Nikon D7100, Nauticam housing, Tokina 10-17mm lens and INON Z-240 strobes.
Nick was also placed in the competition with the Sea Lion from La Paz in Mexico. These fast moving and somewhat naughty animals and tough to photograph and we love the way this one's flipper is just cutting through the surface of the water.
This was shot with a Nikon D800 in Nauticam housing, 16mm lens, no strobes
